Frequently Asked Dental Questions – Owasso, OK
Answering Our Patients’ Concerns
Whether it’s about our own services or just about oral health in general, we always enjoy answering your dental questions. Below are some quick answers to some of our most received inquiries. If you can’t find the information you’re looking for, you can contact us to ask our helpful, knowledgeable staff members.
How Often Should I Visit the Dentist?
If your smile is healthy, two cleanings and examinations a year should be sufficient for preventing disease and decay. Any less than that, and you risk letting small dental issues turn into big ones before you even realize they’re there. There are situations where we might recommend that you visit us more often to keep your oral health under control.
What are the Benefits of Dental Lasers?
Dental lasers don’t make the same noises as a dental drill, and they quickly cauterize exposed nerve vessels to minimize bleeding, resulting in much more comfortable treatments. They allow us better precision when targeting diseased tissue, and they help promote quick healing.
Will I Know If I Have Gum Disease?
Once gum disease reaches its most advanced stages, you’ll probably notice a number of symptoms such as loosening teeth or bad breath. Early on, though, the warning signs tend to be comparatively mild, such as redness, tenderness, and bleeding gums. In some cases, you won’t notice anything wrong at all until it’s too late. Keep up with your regular appointments so that we can detect your gum disease as soon as we can.
Do I Need to Have a Toothache Treated Immediately?
Many toothaches are a symptom of tooth decay or pulp infection. You might need root canal therapy to stop the pain and save the tooth. We’ll have the best chance of success if you visit our dental office right away once you realize there’s a problem.
What Can I Do If I’m Unhappy with My Smile?
Schedule a cosmetic consultation with us and let us know what’s bothering you. Are your teeth looking yellower than you’d like? Ask about our teeth whitening options. Are there numerous chips and cracks throughout your smile? We can hide them all at once with veneers. We even have dermal fillers and cosmetic injections that help smooth out the wrinkles around your grin. With such a wide variety of cosmetic treatments to choose from, your dream smile is well within reach.
Do I Need to Replace Missing Teeth?
Ignoring missing teeth is never a good idea. Your jaw function will suffer, and you won’t be able to enjoy a full diet. The neighboring teeth will start to drift into the unoccupied space, leading to bite alignment problems, jaw stress, and excessive tooth wear. And since it’s harder to clean between teeth that have drifted closer together, you could be at greater risk for gum disease that leads to more tooth loss. Thus, getting a bridge or implant to replace the missing tooth should be your top priority.
Will You Accept My Insurance?
You’ll need to call our dental office ahead of your scheduled appointment time to confirm that we accept your insurance information. We can confirm whether we are in-network with your plan so that we can pass on the maximum amount of savings.
